Faith, Contemporary Abstract Painting by Elizabeth Chapman

'Faith'
Acrylic on 24" x 30" x 1.5"

for purchasing info. Email me:
elizabethchapman@artlover.com

As I was painting this abstract I was thinking about how it is so important for ME to BELIEVE in the art making process and that there will be a beautiful painting.  It is so easy to get wrapped up in thoughts that come from the world, rather than allowing myself to be totally engulfed in child like faith.  The result here was a bright and colorful abstract with a child like feeling, playing and having fun.

Breakaway, Contemporary Expressionistic Abstract Painting, Original Art, Colorful Abstract Painting, Elizabeth Chapman

"Breakaway"

Acrylic on 12" x 12" x 3/4" canvas
If interested in this painting please contact me: Elizabeth

I love these colors!  and I love playing! Just walking into the studio, picking up a canvas without any agenda...other than...to create. As an artist, expectations can get in the way of this creating, it blocks it by taking the flow away.   I'm presently reading a good book that speaks about this need that we all have in our lives to play.  Interested?! ...here it is: "Free Play, Improvisation in Life and Art" by Stephen Nachmanovich....I highly recommend this one.

But Jesus said, "Let the children come to me. Don't stop them!  For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are like these children." Matthew 19:14

"Sugar-n-Spice"
12" x 12" x 3/4" canvas

May be purchased by contacting me: Elizabeth

Another revisited painting.  Not much painting this week....but I have learned to embrace these dry spells and look at them as just another part of the creative process.  Instead, I spent my week doing other things....I do feel a painting brewing and hope to get to it this weekend!

I feel very honored to have gotten my work accepted in the Abstract Artist Gallery, click here to check it out.

Shades of Love, Original Abstract Heart Painting, Elizabeth Chapman

'Shades of Love'
Acrylic on 11" x 14" canvas

Heart Series, click here to purchase
or contact me: Elizabeth

Peace, Love and Understanding.....as I posted several weeks ago, I began painting the heart abstract paintings again after an inquiry I received from my web gallery.  This person had gone through my archive (a portfolio of my sold work) and had found these heart paintings. They had spoken so much
to her.  She told me as a child she had always loved heart paintings in which the hearts were hidden.
It was such a sweet email that touched my heart and spoke to me about the need to continue these.

So, I made this goal that I would paint one per week. Let's see, by next Valentine's Day there will be
.......... I'll let you do the math.  Maybe more than anything else is how they are speaking to me.
I now look forward to this special time of creating a new heart and seeing what it has to say!
Just something about a heart that speaks shades of love.   XO Elizabeth

Le Heart, Modern Contemporary "Heart" Abstract Painting, Elizabeth Chapman

'Le Heart'
 Acrylic on 16" x 20" canvas
 Available by contacting me: Elizabeth

The second heart from the new heart series.   As I posted last weekend with "Truelove", upon request, I have decided to start these up again.  Images of the older sold ones  can be seen in the Archives section of my website.  This one was titled by my daughter Emma, who said my french grandmother, Simone, whom we affectionately called "la vieille" would be proud.

Lots of love to all Dads this Father Day weekend!  I lost my father several years ago and miss him very much.  He lived his dream and worked very hard to provide for his family.  Even though he was a quiet man and wasn't one for expressing his feelings...I always knew that I was loved and very special to him.  Much love....Elizabeth

"Selah"

'Selah'

Acrylic on 12" x 12" canvas
Available from my Web Gallery, here

SOLD

'Selah'.... a musical pause.  I am not a musician but I am thinking a selah must be a lot like the negative space within a painting or drawing.  The space that surrounds an object is just as much a part of the whole.  It connects, gives the eye places to rest and all of it is a part of the plan, the bigger picture.  I see our lives like that as well... we all need times of pausing, resting and meditating to make us whole.
