This is one of three painted works while on a road trip from my hometown to Niagara Falls and Toronto, Canada. I have lived my entire adult life in Springfield, Missouri. It is a part of my heritage. I totally understand and love the mid-western culture. What most people don't know about me, is that ingrained in this gal from the Ozarks is a Hispanic heritage from a childhood that was mostly lived in Venezuela. I am equally as comfortable and at home in a multicultural environment. That is what I have found here in my visit to New York and Toronto, Canada. Today was a most beautiful day spent in Kensington Market-Toronto. This one is for you! I see a world that is happy, friendly and where people love one another. It has much color! I enjoy trying and working on different surfaces. The canvases are the most practical as having a painting that is then ready to hang. Those that I do on paper will require framing or a way to display them on the wall. The surface is just as durable as that of a canvas. They may be placed under glass but don't necessarily require it.  I do use quality acrylics and finish with several coats of varnish.  Magnet frame boards is one of the newest trends and most economical. It's basically two strips of wood with magnets in them.  One set is placed at the top of the painting and the other at the bottom.  That's it! Ready to hang.

A little story behind this piece.  I began this painting with the intent of taking to an art walk in which I had been invited to paint live. I wanted to have something that would be near completion as I knew it would be difficult to focus. This painting was actually turned with the bottom up on my easel as that was they way I began it and was working through to that point of frustration. I needed to get away. I snapped a pic and then decided to turn it bottom up and took a pic. Out the door and on down the road I went. While waiting at a stop light I decided to take a look at the two pics. The first and then the second one. It was then that literally my jaw dropped in amazement. I love it, i love it SO much and felt razzled dazzled by it. I was, "In Love" 😍

Continuing to showcase a few of these that I have done on heavy paper. It is Arches 156lb acid free watercolor paper often gessoed before painting on it.  A friend pointed out to me how it reminded her of the coastline near Sydney, thus the title.  I just love to play with color, shapes, line, etc., it's an adventure for me. Where ever the painting takes you, well that's your adventure!! Enjoy.

The painting above is the completed version. What do you think?! The image below is that same painting from several years ago and I really liked it then, but never felt as if it was ready. It was  among a stack of "not sure that I'm done" paintings. Yet, I just couldn't figure it out. Several attempts were made, but still nothing was enough.  Turned out what it needed was a willingness to take a risk....and so I did! Now it is finished!...and ready to leave home!  Enjoy!!
