The top image is the actual painting in it's completion. The painting was created for a local venue, Marketplace Vineyard in Ozark Mo. in which I was asked if I would do some live painting for a Second Friday Night Art Walk. Of course. Painting live can be a distraction for me and so I began the painting at home where I could be more focused, sipped on wine while painting at the event (glass of wine on my palette) and finished out with the details later back home. A lovely evening!

Story behind the title. As so often happens to me, what turns out to be the strongest viewing placement will be the upside down from what I painted. Imagine picking it up, turning it upside down on the easel. Now look at it. That is the way I painted this one for the most part. I had reached a point where I really did not know what to do next and decided to leave it for it bit. This can often help give me a fresh perspective and the answer will be right there when you I get back. Another thing I will do is take a picture. Often times this can also help me to see what's next. In this case, I took several pics. I needed to be somewhere and I took off. Later, I opened up my phone camera and saw the image turned. It literally took my breath away, I gasped...and I was instantly, 'In Love!'

The painting above is the completed version. What do you think?! The image below is that same painting from several years ago and I really liked it then, but never felt as if it was ready. It was  among a stack of "not sure that I'm done" paintings. Yet, I just couldn't figure it out. Several attempts were made, but still nothing was enough.  Turned out what it needed was a willingness to take a risk....and so I did! Now it is finished!...and ready to leave home!  Enjoy!!

The request for Heartsong was that the vase be left out and it was. Painted on a 3/4" depth canvas as it was to be framed once it reached it's new home….in Hawaii!

Galore was painted on a canvas which was later to be stretched.  It was commissioned by a design firm to be hung in a hospital.  I purchased the canvas from canvas place.com and was shipped to me in a really nice hard plastic tube.  Since it was requested that stretcher bars not be used, the tube came in handy for shipping the completed painting.

Color palette testing

Testing the colors for a commission painting that was completed recently and posted in the previous post.  Playing around, warming up to the blues I used in "Wanderlust".   Later I came back to this canvas and painted on it, but the color palette of the previous painting was still with me. As these two paintings were completed back to back, there is an overflow of colors and similarities between the two.

The title that was chosen for this painting by my husband, is close to my heart.  Unknowingly, he had been working on it while I was busy creating. When he defined it for me, as a strong fondness...i thought 'it's absolutely perfect' , as if he had known what I was thinking about while painting, but knew he couldn't have. This time, a creative block was broken by returning to my first love and reason for painting/creating.  I had been procrastinating, much, much.  I was gently reminded that i have been given a gift and it is time to get back to work. Faith is worked out in action. My part is to do the work and to trust God for the rest. I was also reminded of a verse that I have stuck on my bulletin board, pinned there back in 2008 when I began this new path.  It reads, "Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin, to see the plumb line in Zerubabel's hand." Zechariah 4:10   Returning to the studio to paint this time was more of an act of obedience.  Not really because I wanted to, but because I needed to. This painting is a visual expression of the closeness that I felt in connecting and being a part of His creative process. God is love. It truly is a gift of which I am very thankful for. The beauty is not always in the end product, but in the process as well. Ardor...the perfect title for expressions of His love. Pure joy!
