Titled "Motif" but Cadbury might just be a better fit. My color palette totally changed on a binge with Cadbury eggs. I don't keep sweet around anymore, but I caved in and bought a bag of Cadbury Eggs this year. My favorites and you know there only available one time of year. So secretly kept them in the glove box of my car. For weeks I had done fine with just 2-3, ok 4-5 a day. I was to about a good handful when I binged on the remainder. Next day I go to continue work on a painting and the color palette TOTALLY changed on me. I stood back and thought, "oh my...it's those Cadbury eggs!" ha

We had the opportunity to visit Orange Beach, Alabama this summer where the inspiration for this painting came from. It's interesting to see how the first painting after a trip has been influenced by that area of the country we were in.  Here are a few more and their locations, Equa from St. Petes, Florida and Sunup from Santa Fe, New Mexico.   What do you think?!

Each painting has it's story. This one had a good start but then for whatever reason I left it. I think it may have been the holidays? Anyway, I lost my stride and inspiration for it and set it aside. Here we are months later, many paintings later and I decided one day to pick it up. The basic color scheme stayed the same but it changed a lot. 

The title came to me as my husband walked into the studio just as I was finishing up and remarked, "oh, that's a pretty one". There you go, Pretty One!

Another favorite from this year which was the third painting from the seascape series using this color scheme.  I discovered it one day while mixing Phthalo Green with a bit of yellow and white. I call the mixture Seafoam Green and I LOVE it! It's a very calming color.  Reminds me a lot of my mother-in-law, Norma Jean.  Having been raised in California she has used it a lot  decorating her home and might even be her favorite.  Planning on using it again in 2016.  To see the other two paintings using this color you can follow the link with the original post: HERE.

Anticipating fall.  Colors of the season to come have begun to feel there way in.  Below is a wood pile of freshly chopped wood.  So what is that all about? Well, it is a part of the fall preparations for a cold and snowy winter.  Just thought it made for a good picture!!
