Can you see the seventeen in it?  Inspired by some of the first floral photographs I began painting- originally the "Snow Princess Series"  Strangely enough,  and not planned, this one actually is #17 of this series.

And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. Romans 8:28

'Exquisite' Modern Contemporary Floral Abstract Painting by Elizabeth Chapman

Acrylic on !8" x 24" canvas
$35.00

This painting was abstracted from another realistic watercolor painting recently completed.  I believe this one captures more of the movement, feeling or life of the flowers.  This one is presently on ebay, so if your interested.... enjoy!

The true end of art is not to imitate a fixed material condition, but to represent a living motion. George Innes

'Fair Lady' Modern Contemporary Floral Abstract by Elizabeth Chapman

Lately, I've been obsessed with painting these floral abstracts.  Most of them have been on these small 8" x 10" canvases.  It began as a test panel for one..... and has grown.. to... well several.  In the beginning stage they are inspired from floral photographs that I have taken in the past which I had used when I was painting the realistic florals.  The initial value study is soon over taken by color.  Black gestural lines are used in the end to capture the essence of the flower.  Lots of movement, color and texture!  I feel as if the ideas I am getting for just one photo are endless.  ..... and hey there is a whole stack of these photos!  So...  I'm off to find today's inspiration.

Sorry about the confusion and so to answer and clarify Sheila's question from the previous post-  the baby that we are expecting as our first grandchild is Sarah and Doren's.  Doren is  the youngest of our three children, (the boy, no blog )  Elsie is our oldest daughter, whom many of you know as, A Beautiful Mess  and our middle child is Emma, From Scratch, an aspiring actress who lives in L.A.  And so.... Doren and Sarah have currently made the basement of our house their home as they are currently working and in college.  It is a blessing to us to be able to share our home and help them during this most precious time of beginnings.  Every day is another day of waiting.... your.thoughts, prayers, etc..  are very much appreciated.

Yes, another floral!  Just been having a great time with these.   I feel as if I have come full circle with the florals.  As I was seriously beginning as a painter, I began with florals in a VERY MUCH more realistic style with watercolors, (many of these can be seen in my first blog entries) then later departing into the abstract realm. These have been bringing together many of the various areas I have been working in, into what I would call a  modern contemporary abstract floral.  This is an acrylic palette knife painting on an 8"x 10" (3/4") canvas and is priced at $45.00.  It can be purchased through pay pal by clicking, then scrolling down on  the elizabethchapmangallery.
