Here in Missouri the leaves will be reaching their beautiful fall color peak this next week. That is what this painting reminds me with all the warmth and brilliance of Fall. It is a large, large painting measuring 48" x 48" which will make for a wonderful size with gorgeous colors on someones wall. I'm excited for who will own it ....maybe you?!!

Contemporary Abstract Painting, "Ablaze" ORIGINAL Art by Elizabeth Chapman

'Ablaze'
Acrylic on 36" x 36" x 1.5" canvas

SOLD

I am painting with the feel of the changing seasons that are upon us here in Missouri.  With morning temperatures in the 50's  and afternoon temperature's in 90's, there is a bittersweetness in the air.  I love the change, but no, I am not ready for winter yet....so, until then I'll enjoy our Indian Summer ablaze with the warmth of summer!

If you've been following my blog you have probably noticed that lately I've been all over the place.  I have been working on some newer large abstracts, like this one that I am posting. Also, I have started a new pool side series which is more along the lines of figurative abstract, worked on a commission, small abstracts, floral abstracts and now... there is a new collection of small heart abstract paintings.  So, what's next?.....ah...rest...and then....more painting!!!

This abstract is my painting more with neutral colors mixed in with the bright colors, which is something that I had been wanting to work with and would like to pursue some more.  The colors, like the last one that I did, remind me of fall.  It was painted exclusively with a palette knife and once again was not signed at the time that I took this photo.  Once I saw the photo, I loved it just as it was so there were no more changes to make. It will be signed, rephotograph and sealed before it leaves.....
 could be to your space!

....i'm back! Well, ya I guess I ended up taking off more than just the day. Yes, it's been a long wonderful weekend! ...and I'm all refreshed with new ideas ready to get back to work---tomorrow. Also, just how do you follow a blog like the last one??? Well..... with Passion!

This painting I am posting is one of the most recent ones. It was actually painted after having completed a commissioned piece. By accident I had all three of these paintings in close proximity to each other in my studio when I noticed the consistency between them. This was exciting to me because I believe it shows my own individual style emerging. The other two that could be included would be Italia and Night Life.

Can you tell? To the left you can see one of the two panels of "Better Two" (a commissioned piece I will post more later), Passion on the easel, and Indian Summer underneath. Exciting!!

Inspired, motivated and ready to paint, paint, paint!!!!

Autumn Dusk

"Autumn Dusk"

Acrylic on a gallery wrap canvas

24" x 30"

Sold

I am presently working on a very large abstract. Sometimes these happen rather quickly and sometimes it takes a lot of time until one is fully resolved. I thought I would go ahead and post many of the first abstracts I did a few years ago. Some of these were done in watercolors, some in acrylics and then some are collages.

This painting was one of those that took a long time. There are many different paintings(layers) underneath it. I mean I spent a lot of time trying to resolve it, thinking that perhaps it just wouldn't happen and then one day within a two hour session it all came together. Wow!!
