Finding homes. I work mostly as an independent artist. What does that mean? Well, it means that you are going to spend more time promoting and learning about the business of selling art than actual painting time. I'm not sure that being an artist who just paints even exist anymore. There are many, many hours that go on behind the scenes. I do have a couple of small galleries that exclusively carry a few of my pieces. But, for the most part, it's me working to get it out, to be seen, heard amongst all the other million talented visual artists! Like a needle in a haystack, BUT it happens, I am here to say that art is sold and homes are found! You may be one of those! I don't post here near as much as I use to as I can usually be found hanging out on Instagram, but things have a way of coming back around. So who knows. Please visit my website: elizabethchapmanartwork.com  If this one has caught your eye...then perhaps another home has been found!🎊

Limited palette abstract painting "Lily"

Lily
Acrylic on 36 x 48 canvas

SOLD

I painted this one shortly after the new year in 2018.  I was challenging myself to work with a limited color palette with yellow green being the mostly color. I moved through it swiftly quickly making color choice decisions. I did not have any idea of what the outcome would be as I began the painted other than the color palette that I just mentioned. In the end it turned out to remind me much of a Monetish lily painting. It has sold, but I am offering it as a print on Fine Art America. To have a print made of "Lily" click: HERE.

Below are a few pics of this painting in it's process of becoming the completed painting.

Journey

Journey

Acrylic on 24 x 48 x 1.5" canvas

Available

To purchase contact: elizabethchapmanart@gmail.com

or from my website: elizabethchapmanartwork.com

So many layers and so many changes as I progressed through this painting. Click on the image to see it closer. I use acrylic markers in my paintings in particular for the final marks. They are acrylic so just like the paint they are not going to fade. From the initial brushstrokes to the finale detailing with markers it truly was a journey. There were a few frustrations along the way but it all ended with joy as it's beauty was revealed.

Blu Skies

Blu Skies
30 x 40 x 1.5 inch canvas, Acrylic

Available!

To purchase directly from my website link: HERE

This painting was begun as a demo for a workshop that I taught at Splatter Art Studio in Springfield, Mo. It had a really great start with a rawness to it that I really enjoyed and found hard to get past. So, I let it sit for awhile and came back to it when I was ready to let go. I turned it and began the work of layering colors, shapes and mark making.

Happy Travels

Happy Travels
Acrylic on 11 x 14 inch
I painted this one just shortly after getting home from a road trip from Springfield Mo to Buffalo New York where we went to see Niagara Falls. There was a lot driving and scenery to take in. Wonderful times. The two bottom paintings where actually painted while on the trip and sold just as soon as they were posted. However, this one is still available! But, for how long?!

slow cooking...

Exact
Mixed Media on 16"W x 15.5"H watercolor paper
Ready to frame

I've had this one setting on the back burner, so to speak.  Adding layers, this and that from time to time for the last several weeks.  Decided with the addition of the large circle that it was done this morning and photographed it to post/list.  I have another large 30" x 40" painting on the easel that I've been yearning to get back to work on.  Thursdays/Fridays are reserved grand daughter time and I had a few extra days this week as she was sick.  We played and played and played some more! So sweet when she wakes up and the first thing she says is "grandma will you play with me?" ....of course.

So, shifting gears now...back into artist mode and hope to spend the next 3-4 days in the studio, painting, painting and painting some more!  The painting that is setting on the easel should be ready for your enjoyment, soon!

My paintings can be purchased directly from my web gallery:HERE using PayPal or other arrangements can be made by emailing me: elizabethchapman@artlover.com
