Breakthrough

I posted several weeks the first piece that I believe I will always remember as my breakthrough piece. It was one of those that when it was completed I was in awe. (I might say so where others in my household!) I've been painting everyday for the six months. That is how long it has taken for this to occur. I believe I now have just begun. If you go back several weeks in my blog you will see this one. It is entitled "Snow White" My sister-in-law saw it over Thanksgiving and just loved it. It just so happens that I drew her name, so that one will get framed and will be her Christmas present. Since then I've been painting some really nice pieces. Last week, I spoke about committing to a particular style. It seems to be that this style and subject matter has chosen me. I am going to start my own daily paintings on this blog. If at anytime you are interested in any one of these paintings, I can be contacted through my e-mail address.

Give Thanks

Such a busy week. We had a birthday celebration for our daughter Elsie on Sunday. I started a new abstract painting for her new store opening in February. (I've posted the start of this, and have now committed myself to completing for the next post) I also learned a new watercolor painting technique, working on hot press paper. I am really enjoying the feel of the paper.
This morning we went Turkey shopping in preparation for all the Thanksgiving cooking. I love it!
This is a good week to begin reflecting on all that we can be thankful for, especially during these economically difficult times. It is good to dwell on the positives and not the negatives.
Have a very happy thanksgiving!!

Committment

Feel as if I need to commit myself to a particular style in order to perfect. There just isn't enough time to do it all and do it well. This is something I have been having a difficult time with for quite some time. This week I completed three realistic (well one the other two would be considered semi-abstract)paintings. SO much improvement in technique has occurred since I began this journey six months ago. Then- on the other hand I feel challenged and have so much fun with abstracts. What shall I spend my time on? Just keep on working in hopes that one will win over the other. I don't know seems to be the road I've taken but still not feeling a strong enough pull to commit. Here is my flower from this week. May be next week I'll post an abstract!

It's Friday?

It's Friday and I can't figure out where the week went to. I don't feel as if I spent much time creating art. I guess sometimes it's not how much time spent, but inspiration that really counts.
I took one of my paintings over to the Bellwether Gallery on Monday. It is a fairly large painting on gallery wrap canvas and acrylic paints. It's an abstract done with many layers of colors. Tonight is Friday Night Art Walk downtown.
I made a sell this week on Etsy! I had let my E-bay paintings run out when I got an e-mail asking me if I was going to relist any work. This always inspires me to more work! So- Thursday I painted a realistic floral "Pink Cluster" to go on E-bay, and this morning I finished up two abstract paintings to go on Etsy.
I'm posting the abstracts on here today.
Oh if you happen to be following me, which I'm thinking there isn't anybody so it really doesn't matter, but if you are I am only posting about once a week at this point. I will eventually be spending more time with this. Have a great week!
