a new collection...

Requisite

Close-up of "Requisite"

A different approach. Artist are well known for having to change things up. It keeps things fresh, interesting and inspirational. I've been working on a new collection in which I challenged myself to work with a more minimalist compositional approach. I love Japanese art with it's large areas of space giving the eye a space to rest combined with some line work.

Another approach I've taken is rather than immediately photographing and listing each piece as there completed they've been stacking up in the studio.  This last week I got all nine of them photographed.    I chose one of the smaller ones to list first, so not necessarily in the order that they were completed.  The close-up shows some of the line work and texture of the surface.

A wonderful harmony of colors here, Elizabeth!

Isn't it interesting how our tastes change over time? I think that demonstrates a creative spirit. The expression "less is more" is so true, I think.

Carol, yes, sometimes I feel like it's not ok to change because of what's expected of you. But, also I believe that change is inevitable for the artist. It's part of the process. If it doesn't occur, then neither can the growth of the creative spirit.
