Well, our power has been out for several days. I'm sitting here at Panera blogging. So, what do you do when the lights are out? Paint!!! - in the dark, paint in the daytime- paint all of the time. This little painting was the first in my "lights out" series. Seriously, I had started this one as a severe storm was approaching, the lights flickered and out it went. SO, out came the candles and the painting continued. I really like a lot of things about this small painting. The two peonies (mother/daughter) and the subtle change in value from the glass vase and background.
Happy, happy Mother's Day!!!!

This is lovely! My apologies for not visiting more often than I have recently. So much has been going on! I forgot how much I really enjoyed your work though. :") It makes me happy to see so many beautiful pieces that you've finished... wow!
I love this one because it would fit perfectly in my home, I think. I can't say that about many other peoples' works because I tend to wrap myself around my home and it doesn't feel 'me'... but this one is so perfect! Love it. :")
BTW, I've never tried painting by candle light. I've written by candle light... lucubration is something dear to me. I'll have to try painting now, too. Ha!
Thank you for sharing!
