"I often recall these words when I am writing, and I think to myself, "It's true. There aren't any new words. Our job is to give new meanings and special overtones to absolutely ordinary words." I find the thought reassuring. It means that vast, unknown stretches still lie before us, fertile territories just waiting for us to cultivate them."  -Haruki Murakami

As an artist my job is to give new meanings and special overtones, to fine tune if you will, not ordinary words, but visual elements that aren't new either. The elements of visual communication colors, shapes, lines, values and textures have been around since the beginning of time. Nothing new.  The challenge for the visual artist is bringing these elements together in such a way that a new message is spoken, a special overtone. The possibilities are infinite. This painting "Overtone" 22 x 30 inch Acrylic is available by clicking: HERE

The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done; and there is no new thing under the sun.  Ecclesiastes 1:9
