Day TWENTY….of the "30 paintings in 30 days challenge". This figurative abstract is of my daughter Elsie taken by Emma. They are both such wonderful photographers that I've been going back to their blog, A Beautiful Mess in search of photos to work with. My intent is not necessarily to paint a realistic portraiture, but more to capture the feeling for that moment. The poise, color or patterns are all elements that will attract me and become more of what is emphasized. In this case it was the poise, with one leg swinging back, satchel in hand, face looking into camera. Sophisticated.
