Another painting completed and another celebration!!  I got the idea from a blog I enjoy reading, "The Artepicurean".   When I read this post, I absolutely loved the thought of celebrating the beauty of life and creation after each completed painting with a prepared meal.  Enjoy!

Breakaway, Contemporary Expressionistic Abstract Painting, Original Art, Colorful Abstract Painting, Elizabeth Chapman

"Breakaway"

Acrylic on 12" x 12" x 3/4" canvas
If interested in this painting please contact me: Elizabeth

I love these colors!  and I love playing! Just walking into the studio, picking up a canvas without any agenda...other than...to create. As an artist, expectations can get in the way of this creating, it blocks it by taking the flow away.   I'm presently reading a good book that speaks about this need that we all have in our lives to play.  Interested?! ...here it is: "Free Play, Improvisation in Life and Art" by Stephen Nachmanovich....I highly recommend this one.

But Jesus said, "Let the children come to me. Don't stop them!  For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are like these children." Matthew 19:14

Presence, Contemporary Expressionistic Abstract Painting, Elizabeth Chapman

"Presence"
Acrylic on 16" x 20" x 3/4" canvas

I have not had much time lately to paint as we've been busy with helping our kids move and my parents have also been needing help.  We are now officially empty nesters!!  Not quite sure about it all....as I loved having a full house.  But....seasons change and these are necessary for growth.

I actually painted this one before all the business of this last week.  As I worked I was thinking about the peace and the feeling of never actually being alone because of God's love.  Practicing the presence of this love in my life helps me.

For He Himself has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you." Hebrew 13:5

New Song, Contemporary Expressionistic Abstract Painting, Original Art, Elizabeth Chapman

'New Song'

SOLD

Acrylic on 18" x 24" x 3/4" canvas

Another paint over! ...and two paintings for the price of one!  Sorry, you won't be able to hang the old one on your wall, but you can see it here, if you wish.  Obviously, it wasn't done or was it?  Anyway, the thought behind it is still the same.  It is so wonderful to be able to realize that we live in a world created by a God that continues to create and recreate each day bringing us new songs.

Delight, Contemporary Expressionistic Abstract Painting, Original Art, Elizabeth Chapman

"Delight"

Acrylic on 12" x 12" x 3/4" canvas
Palette Knife Painting

I am challenging myself to work with various different color schemes.  We'll see....   This had a light airy feel to it as I was painting with these colors and a palette knife.  It is a small abstract painting and could be hung as it is or popped into a ready made frame.  More abstracts can be seen at:

"Love At First Sight", Contemporary Floral Abstract Painting, Original Art, Elizabeth Chapman

"Love At First Sight"

Acrylic Palette Knife Painting

Floral Abstract on a 12" x 12" canvas
Ready to hang.

SOLD

Finding that I have a lot more time on my hands nowadays and am concentrating on disciplining myself to work in the studio everyday.  In so doing, I am realizing how much work there is to do.  The floral abstracts that I was once doing, the figurative abstracts and heart abstracts have all seemed have gotten  pushed to the back burner.  So, today I pulled out floral photos and was attracted to a field of beautiful gladioluses that had these two flowers that do seem to be attracted to each other.

Poise, Modern Abstract Painting, Original Art, Elizabeth Chapman

'Poise'
Acrylic on 24" x 36" x 1.5"

SOLD

Circles and Metallics are the focal elements in another paint over.  I have one more work on this list for makeovers and another to re-visit.  Kept the title the same with this one as well.  Click here, to see the old Poise. What do you think?! This one was difficult to photograph with the metallics in it.  Truly is a beautiful painting in real. The darkest areas are an alizarin crimson (dark red) which are appearing more as a brown.

Nuance, Contemporary Abstract Painting, Original Art, Elizabeth Chapman

'Nuance'
Acrylic on 24" x 30" x 1.5" canvas

Sold...thanks!!

Another gessoed over painting.... a new painting over an older one.  If you care to look and see what it was before I also kept the title the same with this and could be found in the search.  Amazingly, the title not only suits this one but is perfect. Nuance: subtle changes in tone.  Perhaps, the previous painting was just a stepping stone to this one.  Thank you, Bren for that insight!  This one will now need to be wired to hang as a vertical.

As I posted previously I have been feeling a need to change things up.  I've been feeling lately as if I was stuck in a rut....and so I am consciously attempting to step outside my box and try working with various other color palettes and approaches.  If your new to my site this painting is a much softer palette than what I have been using.  More of my colorful abstract paintings can be see on my website:

Orchestrate, Contemporary Expressionistic Abstract Painting, Original Art, Elizabeth Chapman

"Orchestrate"
Acrylic on 24" x 36" x 1.5" canvas

To make an offer contact: Elizabeth

Green. Lately. it seems I've been in the mood to go through much of my paintings and paint over some of them.  A way of clearing out older paintings in order to make room for new ones and it's recycling.  Also, a sort of starting anew...a fresh start...a new chapter.  This painting "Orchestrate" was the first one of those to be gessoed over.  I was thinking this morning as I was gessoing over another one...that maybe I've started this also because it helps me believe in second chances.

If your interested in this painting and would like it...email me a reasonable offer.  The beauty about this work is that you get two paintings for the price of one!  I have kept the title the same.
