Secretplaces...Modern Original Expressionistic Contemporary Abstract Painting by Elizabeth Chapman

'Secretplaces'
Acrylic on a 12" x 12" x 7/8" canvas
Available from my web gallery

What do you think? ....  The title for this painting came to me as I was working on it and thinking about all that goes into a work that will never be seen.  I am speaking about thought processes.  First of all for me there is the initial inspiration and then the just getting starting which is in most cases the hardest part.  Faith... that it is going to work.... that a painting will at some point emerge.  Then there is all the thinking that occurs while working.  Everything from problem solving design elements to thoughts about family, prayers, praises, thankfulness, favorite places to eat, times in the past, future plans, the list for the day, etc.... small tidbits of my thought life that are just as much a part of the painting, but is the part that will never be known.  Perhaps that is why an artist will get asked to tell about a painting.  So.... these are my secretplaces.... but then there are the secretplaces that a painting will take the viewer to...another creation in itself.  What are yours?

Affluence... Original Modern Contemporary Abstract Painting by Missouri Artist Elizabeth Chapman

'Affluence'
Acrylic on 24" x 24" x 1.5" gallery canvas

no longer exist

Lots of texture!!! You can click on the image to get a closer look at the texture and that is on this painting.  It has reminded me a lot of another one I did earlier titled "Escapade." (sold) I  detailed with metallic golds and coppers, embellishing and enhancing the warm  tones.   Unfortunately, the metallics tend to not photograph as well.  If you love this painting it is available by contacting me: Elizabeth.

En Masse..... Contemporary Floral Abstract Painting

"En Masse"
Acrylic on 12" x 12" x 7/8" canvas
Commission

I was asked to do a painting from a photo of a floral arrangement that a friend of ours had given to his newly wed bride.  The painting was then to also be a gift to her.  His only instructions where that he just wanted my take on it....yes!... total freedom in expression.  This is a bit different for me as it's been a while since I've done a floral painting.   I LOVED painting it and feel as if I need to do some more of them.  More of these can be seen in the floral and archive sections of my web gallery, here.  I am available to paint commissioned work.  If interested please contact me: Elizabeth.
